Senior Management Team

Kenneth Weg, Chairman and a Founder of Clearview Projects, had over 33 years of leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry with Merck, Sharp & Dohme and Bristol-Myers Squibb Prior to the formation of Clearview. Since 1993, he was president, Worldwide Medicines Group, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, responsible for all ethical pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medicines on a global basis. Mr. Weg was elected to the board of directors and named as an executive vice president of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in May 1995. In May 1999, he was elected vice chairman of the board. He retired in February 2001. Currently, Mr. Weg serves as the non-executive Chairman of Millenium Pharmaceutical Inc., is a member of on the Board of Directors of AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and serves as Vice Chairman of the Board at Fox Chase Cancer Center. He is a member of the Dean's Council at Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a member of the Presidents' Circle of the National Academies. He holds a B.A. in English Literature from Dartmouth, an M.B.A. from Columbia University, and an honorary Doctor of Philosophy from the Medical University of Southern Africa.

Jan Wolpert is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Clearview Projects.  He has over 20 years of general management, corporate development and strategic planning experience in the life sciences industry and other industrial sectors.  Jan has led the conceptualization and execution of over 50 complex corporate development transactions involving acquisitions, divestitures, private and public company spin-offs, venture capital, public company financings and alliances/licensing.  While a Vice President of Corporate Development at Pharmacia from 2000 to 2003 (now an affiliate of Pfizer) and as Vice President of Venture Capital/Mergers & Acquisitions at its predecessor Monsanto from 1996-2000, he directed the corporation’s aggressive restructuring and new venture activities.  Prior to Pharmacia/ Monsanto, his employers included several well-known management consulting firms and industrial corporations in positions involving strategic planning, finance and corporate development.  Jan holds an MBA from Wharton and a B.S. Electrical Engineering from The University of Maryland.


Sam Barker, Ph.D., a Founder of Clearview Projects, worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb for over 30 years in Research and Development, Manufacturing, Business Development, Sales and Marketing, and General Management. After the merger of Bristol-Myers and Squibb in 1989, he held several executive positions including Vice President, Asia/Pacific for the Pharmaceutical Group; President, Intercontinental, Bristol- Myers Squibb Company; and President, U.S. Pharmaceuticals Group before retiring in May, 1999.  He served as President and CEO of Clearview Projects from 2003- 2004. Sam has been the Chairman of the Board of Lexicon Genetics, Inc., since March 2005 and serves on the Board of Directors of UCB, US. He is an Advisor to Symphony Capital, a private equity partnership. He is a member of the Board of Trustees, the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.  Sam received a BS from Henderson State College, an MS from the University of Arkansas, and a Ph.D. in Bionucleonics from the School of Pharmacy at Purdue University.
Douglas P. Tunnell, a Founder of Clearview Projects, has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 23 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Previously he spent seven years with Union Carbide Corporation after working for the public accounting firm Ernst and Ernst. Doug was named Vice President of Finance for the pharmaceutical operating units of Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1990 and in the mid-1990's assumed leadership for the highly successful Bristol-Myers Squibb Productivity Program, which evaluated and reengineered most of the company's business processes. In addition, Mr. Tunnell directed the financial aspects of over 30 M&A transactions and oversaw BMS’s strategic relationship with Sankyo for over 10 years. He retired in 2001 after serving as a Senior Vice President responsible for information technology, global sourcing, worldwide SAP implementations and financial administration. He received his BBA from the University of Texas and is a CPA.
